Virtual Library

Introduction

The MSV Virtual Library was conceived to provide quality-controlled resources (including multimedia resources) on climate change impacts and adaptation in SIDS and the Arctic, and to primarily target regional and local leaders in the Arctic and SIDS in meetings and presentations.

Flexibility in Building the Virtual Library

At this moment, we have a great deal of flexibility in which direction to take the Virtual Library and what kind of resources to include. Your comments and inputs at this initial stage on what sorts of resources to include in the library would be very welcomed, in order to make this Library as relevant and useful to MSV partners as possible!

Please take a few minutes of your time to explore the library, by clicking on any of the left-hand tabs on this page.

Also see the below description on the types of resources in the library, and the "Navigating the Library" section. Comments are very much welcomed via our feedback form.

The Virtual Library houses resources in order to support:

  • MSV’s overall communications strategy and key messages
  • MSV’s Knowledge and Research Component
  • Helping partners in affected regions tell their stories, raise awareness, and push for action.

Proposed Media Types within the Virtual Library

These will comprise a range of downloadable media, including articles/reports; graphics/maps; PowerPoint presentations; web-based tools; videos; and photo galleries.

Virtual Library Proposed Themes

As a starting point, we have uploaded various resources into the library which have been posted to MSV members through the Googlemail MSV group. These resources are broadly consistent with MSV’s overall communication strategy, and fall under the following topics:

Climate Change Science

  • Impacts of climate change in Arctic and SIDS
  • Up-to-date research findings of relevance to Arctic/SIDS

Vulnerability & Adaptation

  • Traditional knowledge in Arctic and SIDS cultures (TK) to climate adaptation
  • Funding to support adaptation
  • Local case studies – highlighting adaptation in SIDS and Arctic
  • Adaptation and vulnerability tools; and guides to using these tools
  • Communicating Climate Change Adaptation
  • Human Rights/Cultural Survival & Climate Change

Mitigation

  • Local case studies of mitigation in action in Arctic and SIDS
