The Five-Year Action Plan for the MSV programme addresses the following components:
- Capacity building in the Arctic and SIDS
- Targeted research on vulnerability and adaptation
- The establishment of comparative case studies in the two regions
- Communications and outreach strategy, materials and activities
- Establishment of networks, partnerships and fundraising goals
- Strategy for Arctic and SIDS engagement in and influencing, local, national, regional and international decision-making processes
The Five-Year Action Plan was initially developed by MSV participants at a Stakeholder Workshop in May 2007 in Belize. It was released on 25 June 2008; however, the Action Plan has been designed as a living document which will be amended as circumstances require, lessons are learned and priorities refocused.
