This picture is taken in Uummannaq’s ﬁsh factory. People are working with the halibut. The factory is very important for our town, because it gives work for many people. It is the only factory here.
The ﬁshermen can sell their ﬁsh to the factory and people can work in the factory. There is work for men and women. In the summer holidays a lot of students work in the factory.
They have to be 15 or older. In the factory the workers treat the ﬁsh and the different parts are sent to different countries, for example Japan and Europe. If it gets warmer, it could be that the halibut disappears. So all the
ﬁshermen and the workers in the factory would lose their jobs.
