Starting from the generation of our grandparents back to the generation of our great grandparents and all the way back to our ancestors’ generation -- no one ever had the problems we are facing today. They enjoyed the wealth of this planet. Today we are facing climate change. What is climate change? What is the damage we will be facing? Is climate change
preventable or not?
According to the scientists, global warming is like the heat in a greenhouse. The heat in our atmosphere is trapped. When the heat is trapped the
glacial ice on the land at the poles (and in the mountains) starts to melt and causes a rise in the sea level.
We know that the ice at the poles is important because it reflects the heat back to space. Or do we? With climate change, we are going to be in a
future when our little islands are covered with the sea.
To prevent or to reverse climate change we need to work out our own problems, such as whether we want to keep cutting down our trees, or to keep building new technology that pollutes our atmosphere and destroys our ozone layer, or whether we would rather have cars than ride a bike to save our planet. These are our problems that we can help solve. If we stop cutting down our trees and make fewer emissions we can stop climate change, but if we start planting new trees, we can also reverse climate change much faster. The choice is ours to make. Let’s die from a natural cause, not an artificial one.
In conclusion, let’s long for the climate that our elders told us about in their stories. Let us believe what our scientists predict. Let us be aware of the causes of climate change. Let’s control our fantasies, that makes us make new technologies. Let’s plant more trees. Let’s protect our planet so that our children can enjoy it like our ancestors did. Let’s make the right choice. Let’s act and pray so we that we can have a future.
